Born and raised in New York City, Shohan is no stranger to life in the fast lane. After spending 5 years in the Marine Corps, he stumbled on the FX markets while spending some time in Orange County, and he’s been hooked ever since. Before heading off to college, Shohan took it upon himself to learn everything he could about FX trading, the rest is history.
Like most retail traders today, success did not come overnight for Shohan. It took a lot of time, trial and error, and he even blew out of a few brokerage accounts along the way. Persistence and patience definitely paid off for him in the long run though.
Listen To Shohan Tell His Story
Becoming a Funded Trader at Topstep wasn’t Shohan’s first rodeo with a prop trading firm either. All of the hidden fees at other shops led him to the realization that Topstep is the real deal. He knows we’re not here to bury traders in frivolous fees, we’re here to fund traders who know how to make money.
The BIG One
Last week, trading the EUR/AUD, Shohan put on the single best trade of his career. He played the game the right way. By sitting back and waiting for the good trades to come to him, Shohan watched as the perfect opportunity came together right in front of his eyes. Everything was lining up, and his risk parameters were aligned so he could put on some decent size without having to risk a lot of capital.
The reward he reaped for doing his due diligence, and waiting for the right time to strike, was a whopping $14,600 winner over the course of just 2 days!
“Understanding Makes It More Fun.”
Shohan eventually got a degree in economics from Fordham University, and he credits the knowledge he gained in the classroom for his ability to understand the macroeconomic events that affect the FX markets.
When it comes to picking his favorite pairs; he keeps it simple and just looks for the volatility. By staying disciplined and keeping the powder dry, Shohan is certainly doing his best to professionalize his passion for trading at Topstep.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us Shohan, and we look forward to following up with you on your progress again soon!
